Light Bulb Replacement

Which Bulbs Should You Change Out First?

Light Bulb Types | Which Bulbs to Replace? To Save On Your Electricity Bill…

The unparalleled energy efficiency of LED light bulbs means significant electricity savings compared to traditional bulbs. To get the biggest savings, use LEDs for bulbs that are lit many hours each day, especially bright bulbs that draw more electricity. Many retail locations, restaurants and parking garages run their lights for 10, 12, some even 24 hours each a day. There are plenty of other reasons to replace bulbs that are only used a few hours each day, but for electricity savings, start with your brighter bulbs, and those that are left on the longest.

To Reduce Your Maintenance Costs and Inconvenience…

Use LEDs where bulbs are hard and costly to get to and replace. With no filament to burn out, LED bulbs will last for over 100,000 hours, resulting in much less frequent light bulb replacements, as well as much lower labor and equipment expense to replace traditional light bulb types and high energy light bulbs. There’s a significant safety issue when bulbs burn out too. While waiting for an appropriate time to replace the bulbs (waiting for a cherry picker to be brought in, waiting until a production machine can be taken offline to access the bulbs…) there is risk from poor lighting.

To Improve Safety…

LEDs run cool, meaning no burned fingers or fire hazards. By contrast, 80% of the energy that comes from incandescent bulbs is heat. Look to replace traditional light bulb types with LED and energy efficient light bulbs where these hazards exist. Similarly where traditional bulbs burn out and leave an unsafe situation because of poor lighting (on sport courts, around machinery, in unsafe neighborhoods), switching to long lived bulbs can make a huge difference. Finally, LED bulbs are “instant on,” they require no warm-up time.

Light Bulb Replacement | Which Light Bulbs to Replace? To Get Dimmable High Quality Lighting…

Sure traditional light bulbs can be dimmed. But when you reduce the current to those bulbs, their light color changes (they turn yellow). Only LEDs are dimmable, AND maintain their light color. So, if you have a restaurant, retail location, or any situation where you want light dimming and you care about the quality of light, switch to LEDs.

To Quiet The Hum And Reduce RF Interference…

Gone are the days of humming bulbs, or bulbs that tick, or ping as they warm up. LED bulbs are ultra-quiet. The ballasts in fluorescent light fixtures can emit broadband RF (radio frequency energy.) This energy can interfere with everything from radio signals to cellular networks, to WiFi networks (fluorescent lights are one of the top 5 causes of WiFi network interference.) LEDs generate no RF energy. So, if you want a quiet, interference free environment, go LED.

To Create More Attractive Lighthing…

Traditional light bulb types shift as they age, casting unseemly shadows and even unwanted colors. Energy efficient light bulbs, such as LEDs, provide a very even distribution of light, do not change radically as they age and are available in a vast array of colors and shapes. Facilities illuminated with LEDs just seem more naturally and aesthetically lit. Plus, LEDs can also be focused to direct the light exactly where its needed. This is important if you are lighting a product in retail and you really want to show off its true color and its best features. Switch to LEDs whenever you are trying to make an aesthetic statement- lighting a product, a hotel lobby, a landscape… anywhere.

To Be Environmentally Responsible…

Compact fluorescent bulbs contain mercury. Other bulbs classified as hazardous waste include HID (High-intensity discharge), neon, mercury vapor, high pressure sodium, and metal halide lamps. The accumulation of mercury in the environment and the food chain is a serious environmental and health hazard. LEDs don’t contain mercury, and because they substantially outlast more traditional alternatives, far fewer of them end up in land-fills. So, be an environmental steward, your customers and employees will love you for it. Replace mercury containing light bulb types now.
